– Dual-Bomb Testing, Intelligent Temperature Control, Compliant with GB/T 8017 / ASTM D323
I. Applicable Standard & Application
Strictly designed and manufactured in accordance with GB/T 8017 “Test method for vapor pressure of petroleum products (Reid method)” and ASTM D323. It is specifically used to determine the Reid saturated vapor pressure of gasoline, volatile crude oils, volatile petroleum products, and other liquid fuels. This instrument is widely applied in quality control of petroleum refineries, regulatory compliance testing by inspection authorities, evaporation loss assessment of fuel storage and transportation companies, and commissioned testing by third-party laboratories. It is fundamental equipment for evaluating fuel volatility and safety.

III. Key Features
1. Dual-Bomb Simultaneous Testing – Improved Efficiency
The instrument is equipped with two precision pressure gauges and matching test bombs, allowing two parallel sample tests simultaneously. It can be used either for duplicate tests of the same sample to verify repeatability or for comparative tests of different samples, significantly improving laboratory work efficiency.
2. Intelligent Digital Temperature Control – Accurate & Reliable
An intelligent digital display temperature controller is used as the core of temperature control, displaying the bath temperature in real time with a control accuracy of 37.8℃±0.1℃. Together with a high-efficiency heating system (2000 W) and a stirring device, the bath ensures a uniform and stable temperature field, fully meeting the strict constant-temperature requirements of the Reid method.
3. Precision Pressure Gauges – Direct Reading
Equipped with two precision pressure gauges (range 0~200 kPa gauge), clear scale and sensitive response. Each pressure gauge is strictly calibrated before delivery, ensuring accurate and reliable pressure readings for each test bomb without the need for external sensors or data acquisition systems. Operation is intuitive and maintenance is easy.
4. Flexible Operation – Strong Adaptability
The instrument features a simple structure and convenient operation, suitable for both routine batch testing and small-batch R&D sample testing. Users may choose manual shaking or optional mechanical rotation for semi-automatic operation. The bath design facilitates observation and cleaning.
5. Safe & Reliable – Long Service Life
The whole unit is manufactured with high-quality materials. The heating system includes over-temperature protection to prevent overheating that could damage samples or the instrument. The electrical system complies with national safety standards, ensuring stable and reliable long-term continuous operation.
IV. Test Principle & Typical Operation Procedure
Principle (brief):
A fixed volume of liquid and vapor sample (volume ratio 1:1) is placed into a Reid test bomb, sealed, and immersed in a constant-temperature water bath (or metal bath) at 37.8℃±0.1℃. The bomb is shaken periodically (either manually or by mechanical rotation) to achieve gas-liquid equilibrium. After the pressure gauge reading stabilizes, the indicated pressure is recorded as the Reid saturated vapor pressure (in kPa) of the sample at 37.8℃.
Typical operation steps:
Sampling: Collect a representative sample according to GB/T 8017 / ASTM D323 and cool to an appropriate temperature.
Loading: Fill the test bomb with the sample, seal it, and attach the pressure gauge.
Constant temperature: Place the test bomb into the water bath preheated to 37.8℃ and secure it.
Shaking: Remove the bomb at regular intervals, shake it several times (or use a mechanical rotation device), then return it to the bath. Repeat until the pressure gauge reading remains unchanged for two consecutive readings.
Reading: Record the stabilized pressure gauge reading.
Calculation: Apply atmospheric pressure correction (if required) to obtain the final vapor pressure value.
V. Typical Applications
Petroleum refineries: Vapor pressure quality control of gasoline, naphtha, alkylate, and other intermediate or finished products.
Quality inspection authorities: Regulatory compliance testing of commercial gasoline, ethanol gasoline, etc.
Fuel storage & transportation companies: Assessment of evaporation losses during storage and transportation; development of safe operating procedures.
Additive & formulation R&D units: Rapid screening of the effect of different additives on gasoline volatility.
Third-party testing laboratories: Commissioned testing and issuance of credible vapor pressure test reports.
